Safe Driving Basics

RoadThough we tend to forget, driving for many of us is the most dangerous part of our days. Check the habits you practice while driving and those which need improvement. You always:

Drive friendly to avoid road rage.
Maintain speed limits and signal when turning or changing lanes.
Approach each intersection with caution and concentration.
Keep your eyes peeled for drivers who run red lights.
Yield right of way to drivers on your right.
Watch for children, bikers, pets and pedestrians on the road.
Start driving only when you and all passengers have buckled up.
Refuse to drive if you've been using alcohol.
Avoid smoking, eating, reading and other unnecessary stuff.
Avoid using a phone, especially in bad weather or construction areas.
Remember, you only have 2 hands and both belong on the steering wheel.
Avoid seating children under age 12 in the front seat.
Pull over and rest if you are drowsy.
Check your blind spots and scan ahead for potential hazards.
Drive slower at night and when it rains due to reduced visibility.
Call on your patience when facing congested traffic.
Refuse to become one of those negative driving statistics.
