Good Intentions: Did You Do Well This Year?

ChecklistTo eat extra veggies, relax more, smoke that last cigarette, see a dentist . . . We all strive to adopt changes that can add to our health, safety and well-being. How successful have you been with your health goals this year?

Assess your progress. Check the statements that apply to you:

I stay within 10-15 pounds of my healthiest weight.

I have established and follow a schedule for routine screening for primary conditions
         with my health care provider.

I usually get 7-8 hours of sleep a day.

I accumulate 30-60 minutes of exercise most days of the week.

I do strength-building exercises 2-3 times a week.

I eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.

I limit foods high in saturated fat (e.g., fatty cuts of red meat, full-fat dairy and butter)
         to 2 servings a week.

I buckle my seat belt for every trip.

I don’t smoke.

I avoid alcohol or limit intake to one drink a day (for women) or two a day (for men).

I never drive after drinking alcohol.

I floss my teeth every day.

I have at least one dental check per year.

I relax and find solitude nearly every day.

I have a network of friends for mutual support and fun.

I learn what I can about protecting my health.

I keep setting new goals.
